What have you done with or to your M3 today?

Took advantage of the 80 degree fall weather and got some photos taken!

someone give me the quick and dirty on aftermarket pulleys
"worth it?" or not worth the hassle for minimal gains?
if you would get a pulley, which one would you get?

just posting a random Rogue Engineering pulley for attention

Your butt dyno will never know the difference. If you are going to track the car at an elite level, maybe you see a fraction of a second improvement in a lap time. It’s on my short list of would not do again mods.

You will feel a bit of difference at 1st gear low rpms. Once the engine is already spinning you won't see much difference. I definitely won't recommend it as an early mod to do, but many ppl do it because it's easy.

One last Portland run for the year, she’s going on a tender until temps are in the 50s.

AutoSolutions Ultra kit installed last night. The 1/2 mile spin home was intriguing- very precise and similar to a rifle bolt.

Looking forward to the forecasted rain and winter weather- NOT.

Ultra kit? Has he changed the design recently?

Cars in winter storage so it's time to clean the shoes. Tires got scrubbed with tire cleaner so they look a bit dry before they get sealant/dressing on them next year.

Is this curing the somewhat imprecise shifting 1st to 2nd... how does it feel?
Also, can it be installed on stock shift knob, I want to keep it stock looking...

it cures everything wrong with the OEM shifter. It's very precise but still a bit notchy but i suspect that comes from the transmission itself. There is literally no more "play" as everything gets firmed up. I even went with the poly front mounts on my install.

F10 M5 weighted shift knob is a perfect companion to this as you don't feel like you're holding a toy knob anymore.

Installed lux h8. Couple old shots to compare the halogens. The Samsung camera put a slight more emphasis on the blue. In real life they have a slightly more pure white color. The brighter setting pictures show the more natural look of the angel eyes. Also out on my winter setup with VMR V710FF. This is on a non zcp with EDC. 20 mm spacers in the rear and no spacers in front. Likely will upgrade to dinan performance springs after winter. Might as well enjoy the extra clearance for snow/crap roads.

Love the wheels! They look a bit like the M3 CSL wheels (E46), but more aggressive , concave. I also run spacers in the rear on my 335i, and no spacers in front, but on the M3 it seems that it's not needed (on stock wheels).

I also have the led installed in my rings but they are not equally luminated, and I think it's the design... it does not send light on the outer ring, and makes the inner ring brighter, no?
Anyway, looks better than halogen, by far.

Yes that is a limitation of the OEM hardware. Something about using a fiber optic to link the 2 angel eyes so light is not equally transmitted. You need to look at these lights at eye level from about 10-15 ft away and they look much more equal (i.e. looking in a rearview mirror). The rear offset on these wheels is et40 and OEM zcp is 25 so you need spacers. Front ET are 25 compared to 31 I believe. I first put the rear wheel on without the spacer just to see and the tire was practically touching the damper. The width of the wheels are 9.5/10.5 instead of 9/10 OEM zcp. From the offset calculator, it's 4mm less inner clearance in the rear so 20mm spacers were perfect. I love these wheels and originally used them on my F82. Then last winter ran them on my M2CS and they cleared the CCBs on there too

Tire immediately popped and I was hearing a thumping sound with each revolution of the wheel at speed
Wtf
I was in the left lane and had to cross 5 lanes of traffic to get to the narrow ass shoulder on the 405 north

The tire busted open and the tread peeled off like an orange peel
It also ripped off my fender liner
Thankful I didn't lose control and nothing else happened except losing an entire day having to tow the car and spending $665 unexpectedly to replace 2 front tires prematurely

What the actual f@#&!!!! I have not seen anything like in a long time! But speed and things in the road can do crazy things to tires! When I was in high school (long, long ago...) me and a buddy were out testing his '66 Mustang and managed to hit around 140 on a long straight. As we slowed the right rear started bumping and making noise. Slowed and pulled off to see what was up. There was a 10 inch gouge down the middle of the tire and embedded at the end of that was a bottle cap, back when they were metal. Amazing to see what it did and lucky it didn't blow out.

Finally put my spacers on.

Picked up my e90 from the shop after BE bearings, Carbahn vanos covers and a fresh Guibo (giubo?). These Clevite VAC bearings had 65k supercharged miles. It appears something came through and scratched shell 6 but nothing was worse for wear otherwise. I finished the day driving 400 miles south through Oregon and into California. I missed my M3!
