am i nuts?
no.

why would you need 2 potential tow vehicles? the GX would be absolutely killer in terms of comfort also.. my mom has 2020 GX470 and i would prefer to use that every day if i could.

i'm sure the F250 is also comfortable, but do you even use it much these days?

and sub 75K for a Cyber Truck is pretty good, although knowing Tesla QA... you would have to overlook a lot of it.. and you're pretty hands on and like to make sure everything is right.. and everything will be so wrong on that truck lol

More details please on the red E92's rims and specs.

You require a truck for work? You mention the Lexus can tow. Why not just use that for the 2 days every other leap year the car is at the track? (Inner SCDJ).

Continue using the volt. Sell the truck.
i do not need the truck for work. i haven't actually towed to the track yet, but i have a feeling i'm really going to like it. no complaints with the truck yet, other than feeling the guilt of it not being used much. i'm thinking use will improve as my kid gets a little older though.

thats the thing... we wouldn't absolutely need the lexus and f250, but once the f250 is gone, its gone. there were limited amounts of 2022's built, and even fewer built the way i ordered it. my truck is the slicktop e90 zcp stripper (in regards to rarity and desirability) of f250's. oh, and i can't have both.

6spd though? You’re missing one important tick on that stripper list.

think about the futura trailer you can buy if you sell the F250 and use the CT or GX to tow with...
roastbeef's user avatarroastbeef if you’re looking for a GX, I run 3 Lexus dealerships, I wouldn’t mind trying to save you some money if you haven’t purchased one yet

I don't think Cybertruck is the droid, I'd get an F150 for this job having lived with an EV for a while, and I'd wait until the F150 has the NACS plug. Cybertruck while very capable is ultimately a first of its kind unibody EV pickup and pulling a car hauler in one, long-term (or because Tesla, in the first 3 years of ownership while you do the factory's QC job for them), is almost inevitably to have beta test issues. This thing is designed for the fat part of the use curve, despite a lot of capability on paper - the capability I'm certain it's certainly there but it's closer to the edge of the durability envelope to get there. The lack of physical connection between steering and front axle is a hell no from me, having had an EPAS failure on my own Tesla, on a supposedly "Mature" design that they'd been building for 6 years by the time I bought one...

I'd do Lightning + helper springs/airbags and send it personally, for any local or one-charge tows, and then use a gas vehicle for longer ones. Electric drive is awesome for heavy work so long as you do'nt have to go too far

I'm trying to get wifebot to go for a GX550 or, if I'm actually successful at de-snobbing our household cars, the LC250. Need them to hit dealers so I can get her in one to try. Towing with 140+" of wheelbase sure is nice compared to towing with an SUV, but pickup ownership isn't mandatory for me towing a 1400lb car

So much off-season racermath(tm) .
The f150 lightning just doesn’t do it for me. I think Tesla is the king of reasonably priced EV’s. The range and battery tech is just superior, in my opinion.
The reviews are starting to trickle in, and the Jason camissa CT review is what prompted this thought… it just seems to make more sense.

you just wanna live that robocop life ;)
I really just want a matte black cybertruck with mirrored window tint and zoom around pretending I’m an F117 nighthawk pilot. There I said it.

Watched a review, and the cyber truck looks pretty sick. I pretty meh on Elon though, so I can’t see giving dollars there.

Ultimately, im pro Toyota’s views on hybrids > EVs. I don’t foresee myself spending $75-$100k on a vehicle that will likely require a $30k+ “battery refresh” over a 10 yr ownership. Maybe more? When the same purchase with Lexus or you F250 could be driven for the next 25+ yrs.

LOL F117 did come to mind when i first saw that. it's a pretty dope idea... please do it.

use Vanta Black instead...

per dr.google.

Vantablack is a class of super-black coatings with total hemispherical reflectances (THR) below 1% in the visible spectrum.

Hey looking for some input. Regarding MCS setup.
Bought an E92 to be my track car. It's not going to be a dedicated track car, but it's not my every day car. Car will be street driven to events as well around town when I feel like it. Going to be doing 5-7 track days and 6-10 autocrosses a year.
Car is full weight, will get seats and bolt in roll cage. Runs on 200tw, with no aero. May add some aero later on, but not sure.

Wanting to to MSC 2way with Remotes.
Talking to Bimmerworld.

for a coilover setup, they said minimum spring rates would be 900# front spring 800# rear.

divorced rear setup with 700# front and 1000# in the rear.

They're concern is the coilover setup would be too uncomfortable on the street.
I'm wondering is how much better is having a true coilover, and is it worth the less comfortable ride when I drive it around?
So ended up picking up a set of used Motion Suspension Clubsport 2 way with Reservoirs. The springs currently on the setup seem a little off.
Wanted to get peoples thoughts.
Current setup is a true coilover rear.
150-90-61+80-20-61 Front
200-60-61+100-20-61 Rear

That would put the fronts at 9k springs and the rear at 6k springs. To me, that seems too soft for the rear. Thoughts? Should I change the rear to 7.5-8k?

Sounds soft, for both front and rear. But that depends on how you're using the car.
If you're happy with 9k front (500lb/in), then something like ~7k as a rear coilover would probably be good.

The rear I know seems too soft. The fronts I wasn’t sure.
Previous track car was a Miata NB with 200tw and mid level aero. I ran Xidas with 14kg/mm(784ft/lb) front and 9kg/mm(504ft/lb). I had no issues with that setup on the street and found it loved it on the track. That was a much lighter car.

Would would be a better rate?
As I have no aero and no plans to run slicks?
Tracks I run are mainly Summit Point, Dominion Raceway, and VIR.

Probably 700 front and 1000 rear. Since your rear coilover, ~500 would be the equivalent.
Been a while since I've posted but I've been busy being dumb with the new E46 build and continuing to work on weight reduction/suspension optimization for the E92 (right around 3150# now with 1/2 tank). Lap times have been steadily dropping and I'm super proud of what the E92 has done on street tires. Was able to run mid 1:53's at T-Hill and low 1:51's at Buttonwillow. Still pretty far from my sub-50 goal but I've realized that the car needs a totally different setup there vs our smoother NorCal tracks. I'm trying to find a balance but might give up since I'll be changing my suspension setup again as I move to Pirelli/Yoko scrubs next year to save the wallet a bit.

Next up are some carbon doors for the E46 which retain full OEM functionality (going for a poor man's Schirmer style build). Currently it's pretty built up... CSL Intake, SS V1 headers, BW race exhaust/diffuser, PFC BBK, weight loss, Shaftworks coilovers, Custom LSD (similar to my E92 diff if anyone is interested, they're on par with DiffsOnline but ~$4k without a core charge).

It'll be fun to see how the two compare on track and excited that I'm able to get my Dad running laps with me.

ALSO! If anyone has experience trying to squeeze Yoko 300/650/18 tires on these cars, please let me know! Haha

Roastbeef is secretly a gay.

His recently statements proves as much.
It’s no secret, I’m very happy.

And when I said I want you to work on my junk, I meant the car.
Would love more info on the $4k diff
