BMW E92 S65 4.2 ENGINE BUILD

Took the engine apart and found more surprises. Previous owner drop a bolt inside the engine, but thankfully it didn’t cause too much damage.
Good video. Seems to be in alignment that main #1 upper gets the most wear as the crank cantilevers/flexes and for the rear main bearings lower get the wear.

I am amazed that you have a bent rod and the rod bearings STILL look decent. This doesn't make any sense. I would imagine the conrod endplay would be affected and evidence of this reflected by the rod bearing wear. Maybe i'm not seeing the condition clearly in the video.

Actually, I take that back. I do see the shiny side of the bearing indicating bent rod. Wow!

Yeah, a bad oil filter housing gasket is most likely. Mine looked exactly like this.
RW Carbon steering wheel trim w/blue "M" button.

Took some time to find the correct color blue to match the roundel.

Work parking lot donuts after an extended commute due to snow/ice.
Added the IND red M button / start button… no pics as I was fighting the sun going down :confused2
Got the required smog check done in preparation for registration.
Towed to MPorium for rod bearing service before transport to CO.

^^a filter for a filter. Is that supposed to reduce the frequency of cleaning/replacement of the filter?

Lol, points taken.

The prefilter will keep larger debris out and make it easier to clean the filter. Also, the oil soaked fabric filters are a little more variable in quality, sometimes allowing passby. Adding the pre filter makes the combo approximate the quality of a paper filter but better air flows over a longer timeframe. Maybe.
Not much to actually see but the following future proofing all done:

NRW valve covers, c/w grommet kit, silicon throttle body to plenum fittings and billet spark plug tubes.

UK Rebuilt throttle actuators

MPorium bolt on Vanos covers (the only way to go in my opinion)

Other items like service, new tyres, new battery radiator hoses etc.

Rod bearings have been done previously, so hopefully all future proofed now to enjoy for many years to come.

For anyone in Brisbane Australia, I can highly recommend ‘Prestige & Performance’ who did all this work and all previous work.

Made a carbon hood. Maintains full OEM functionality. Weight loss was the primary goal, so aesthetics are not perfect by any means. I couldn't find a weight online for the existing available E90 options so I assumed the worst (ie heavier than stock).

Finished weight: 8.90lb.

Having done it I don't recommend, lol.

I suppose this will help additionally.
