i want a built diff sooo bad lol
1FastSicilian wroteHaha me too. Esp after I had the car stuck in a snowy parking lot trying to get into the cage builder’s workshop, and he told me that I had one wheel stationary and one wheel spinning. So next up on my list; brake ducts
However, I am looking to either retrofit with Ebay/POM/whatever GT4 lip with brake ducts. However, the turner under tray directly blocks the ducts.
So looking for a few options
GT3/GT4/whatever front lip/splitter/ 1 piece undercarriage unit with integrated ducts and ditch the turner/ebay lip. BW sells em, but at $2500 and not in stock and its not a full undertray that runs back to the reinforcement panel
or....
Optioins??

RalliartRsX wroteWhat brakes and pads are you running? I ran ducts for a little bit but ditched them. The car doesnt need them IMO unless you are endurance racing on stock calipers maybe. So next up on my list; brake ducts

RalliartRsX wrotePinnacle has cutouts for brake ducts in the undertray when using a GT4 lip. If you already have a Turner one, similar to using the OEM felt, you'll need to use a hole saw to cut an opening. So next up on my list; brake ducts

However, like Joe, I believe brake ducting is pointless unless you're doing long-format racing. If you're using the car as both a daily driver and a track car, the brakes will always be cold during daily use, leading to premature rotor and pad wear.
omgzirra_exe wroteI think brake ducts were actually the source of premature wear for me at road America — 4ish miles with two straights long enough to cool everything off too much.Pinnacle has cutouts for brake ducts in the undertray when using a GT4 lip. Car is full race car caged. 3400lbs with me in it as of last week
No aero (yet)
Paragon 370 front/stock rear
Dtc70 all around
Basic setup
So when the car was 3550 when I cooked the brakes, it was 150mph entrance into turn 1 at summit
Attached is the pads. Also have brake caliper temp strips (showed 370 F at caliper and over 1200 at rotor based off rotor temp paint)
Also rapid pad wear (18mm d54 based pads)
See attached of the pad prior when the car was 3550 lbs. This was after 5 hped sessions and a full race weekend (5 20 min races and 1 qualy session)
Edges of the pad (leasing edge) began to crumble. Stopping power didn't drop but....

But yeah I’ve got accelerated pad wear too. I don’t see how it could be caliper specific, but interesting data point.
Honestly I think it’s the hawk pads, I ran the Dtc70s and I thought I needed brake ducts too. Switched to PFCs and I get better pedal, longer pad life and more consistent braking. Needless to say, I’ll never run the hawk pads again.

Did another test recently. I am now at just over 3400 lbs with me in it after a winter lightening (wire harness thinning, hvac removal, and a few other items)
Ambient was circa 50 F
Decided to back it off into turn 1 (kept max speed to 140mph as opposed to 150mph)
Caliper temps remained in the 300 - 320 range. Which is good. Rotor paint still showed elevated temps. However, the super heated backing material transfer to the titanium shims didn't occur
I think I will use the opportunity to finally change pad compounds! It may be time....
RalliartRsX wroteI ran them on my e46 and with my stock brakes and lovedddd them, as I got faster and experienced other pads, I learned to dislike them. My PFCs cost a little more but last DOUBLE the lifespan of the pad.The thing metal pieces are indeed the titanium shims

1FastSicilian : You know. DTC pads cause such a polarizing response. Ive used DTC70s for years over several different chassis (E46 M3, my turbo Nissans, E92 m3, etc) and have enjoyed both price and longevity. When I had stock front setup, the DTC 70s pads lasted a fair bit. However, bad data point as I am some 3-4+ secs faster than when the car was basic trim, v730 with fuill interior and 3690 lbs ,6 months ago
I think I will use the opportunity to finally change pad compounds! It may be time....

guess I have to start running a track pad in the rear now, no more DS2500s for me. (oem caliper and rotor)
think all in all they ended up lasting 7 days, but including my first few days where I was pussyfooting around on the brakes. gonna try DS1.11 to match my fronts until those run out and then switch to PFC 331/332.

Hey everyone , just wanted to stop in and remind everyone Mr.beef started this thread in 2016.
He still doesn’t have a race car .
Or a running car .
Anyways, Happy March everyone !!!!

i also don't have the exhuast i lent you a couple years ago.
It takes time to drill as many holes as he has!

My M3 is back up for sale - making the commitment to more endurance racing with the hopes of getting into WRL next year.
Shoot me some offers.
