Was checking my cat’s vet records and it was last year in September when she was last in so I’ve decided to take her in for a check-up and basic blood tests. Was reading that seniors should be seen twice a year so she’s overdue.

Picked up some gabapentin at the vets office today. It’s the liquid version and I will put it in her food tomorrow 2 hours before her appointment. Hopefully it calms her down so she doesn’t have a bad time at the vet. Will let you guys know how it goes.

Took her in yesterday. Couldn’t get her to eat the food with the gabapentin, luckily she was better than usual when she was there. Check-up went well. Got blood test results today and they were normal. Only negative was they found some protein in her urine. Doc wants to see her in a month to do another urinalysis to rule out renal problems, which are common to cats.

My cat, a Scottish Fold Munchkin named Munchie.

Her at 6 wks old.
She’s now 17. Having kidney issues like many older cats. But its been a year since diagnosis and she’s in better health than before diagnosis. She sees her “family doctor “ vet twice a year and on top of that she sees her Internal Medicine specialists 2-3 times a year.

She’s doing great for an old girl. Still plays lots and cuddles every night in bed.

We hope so too! Kidney disease is not a quick thing so with proper maintenance and some luck(you can’t win everything) so don’t fret, you can’ have many happy years to go!!!!

She takes a supplement I got from Amazon called Kidney Support Gold, no idea if it does anything but her medical team said it won’t hurt. They prescribed Aventi Kidney and an Omega 3 supplement. Once on this she really perked up. Shedding years off. It’s like she’s 10 again in terms of energy and playfulness. Her main food is Royal Canin Renal P. Her latest blood tests are great!

Renal cats get finicky so just keep trying until you find what your fur baby likes. As her specialist said, the best food for her is the one she eats. Just keep in mind one day they will stop liking their food and you need to pivot. Yeah it sucks but thankfully there are lots of options.

I use the paperclip icon in the "Go Advanced" section and select pics off my desktop. Easy and simple.

We get a cat and it turns out its my cat(?)… okay been taking care of ‘my cat’ for two years then my better half was like hey let’s go to the human society… told her I dont like window shopping there so if we’re going we’re probably getting something. Of course she’s down so we go and now ‘I’ have two cats.

Flat out refuse to get any more animals as I personally have 3 to take care of (have a dog as well).

HOW TO WASH A CAT

1. Lift toilet lid and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the toilet bowl.
2. Pick the cat up gently and soothe him/her while carrying the cat to the bathroom.
3. In one smooth movement, place the cat in the toilet and close the lid. You may need to stand on the lid.
4. The cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Do not worry about the noises coming from the toilet -- the cat is actually enjoying this.
5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a power wash and rinse.
6. Have someone open the front door to your house. Make sure that nobody is between the toilet and the front door.
7. Standing well back, open the toilet lid.
8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet and run out the front door to the outside where he/she will dry off.
9. Enjoy your sparkling clean cat and toilet.

Our niece is house/cat sitting while we're in Egypt (we just did the Valley of the Kings today and saw King Tut-- he didn't have much to say).

Bailey and Piper are keeping Max company and there are Much Purrs reported.

We actually have a development in the ferral cat situation.

So the black cat we call Giuseppe who has been coming around for years has ALWAYS fought any other cats that came anywhere near him. Well maybe he's gotten too old or something, but this new grey cat we call Cracker Barrel started coming by. Unlike Giuseppe he's very friendly and will rub up against you so you will pet him/give him food.

Anyways he has started coming by pretty much every day now, he even hangs out in the patio WITH Giuseppe being there also and Giuseppe doesn't do shit. I don't know where this new cat Cracker Barrel came from, but I don't think he's ferral like Giuseppe, but he also doesn't have a collar or anything.

Maybe the asshole just goes house to house getting free food. I did see a mouse trigger one of my patio cameras the other day and today I found a dead mouse on the lawn so hopefully someone is doing their job.
