Anyone here running 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on stock M359 or M220 rims with spacers and suspension drop?

What is your setup… Please post pics!
Are you referring to stock wheels? Fitment is entirely dependent on width and offsets.
Also, yes I know spacers/suspension has been discussed at length, but seemingly not regarding 4S tires.

And given that 4S tires are a bit more square, I’m wondering if they are more prone to rubbing when upsizing to 255/275, especially when coupled with spacers and a suspension drop.

Yes, I’m referring to stock rims, namely M359 or M220

I do unfortunately… fronts rub when i turn at low speeds. Not sure if its normal or not!

Also, looks like these are Continentals, not PS4S up front… same as rears too?
Sorry, those were contis (ECS), but very similar to PS4S. Now I have PS4S, but on wheels that don't match your specs.

No rubbing. That was on swift springs on b8s which is pretty low, even a little lower than ZCP.

"Rubbing"...curious, what specific driving conditions experiencing issue [i.e. steering angle, passenger/cargo loading, etc] ?

Symptoms and driving conditions:

The front of the car is rubbing against the wheel arch top and front liner.

The rear of the car is rubbing against the upper arch.

The car is being driven by only the driver, with no passengers or cargo in the car.

The front liner is rubbing during a full turn.

The front top and rear arches are rubbing while driving at moderate or high speeds, especially if the road surface is uneven. The rubbing occurs intermittently. It’s very annoying…

Previously read multiple posts, your set-up specs not an issue for 'regular' driving; except at full steer angle lock.
My plan for next tire set, same as yours including spacer specs.

Jus a guess based on descriptions - perhaps a result from 'tired' suspension components...? :confused2

A nice aftermarket option for the 359M is the Richland Forged 359M forged zspec 19x9.5et22 and 19x10.5et22 wheels. Increases concavity, saves 2+ lbs/wheel, provides proper support for wider tires and requires no spacers.

I really wish I knew about the Richland Forged made 359M replicas because I would have done that!

I only could find Avant Garde M359 which are much cheaper than a custom wheel, and come in sizes that fit over BMWs (e46, etc....) I recommend AG if you just want flush fitment. They make a few different sizes of M359 for the e9X alone, you can get much wider.

I only didn't go with AG because I had worked with BC Forged before with my 335i and it was an amazing experience; so, I went with them again.

These cars have a ton of room. I only put my car on here to show how much you can get with no rubbing. I am running 19x 9.5 with 265/35 on the fronts and 19x 10.5 with 305/30 on the rear. The fronts only rub on full lock against the vent slats in the front of the wheel well, I know a lot of people cut them out. (ET Offsets are 25 for both front and rear, I think) These are 4S Tires on the car now.

There certainly is a lot of room for wider wheels! I have 10” and 11” wide track and street rear wheels. With camber plates, you can run a 10” wide front wheel with a 285 tire and minimize any rubbing by using a heat gun to remold the shape of the inner fender liner.

Spacers are safe to use as long as you make sure rust on the hub is removed, appropriate length lug bolts/studs are used and you cannot slide a piece of paper between the spacer-hub and the spacer-wheel mounting faces. The f82 gt4 and f87 csr factory race cars use 30 and 41 mm spacers so square wheel set can be used on the front and rear. Most people that track f8x use 18x10.5et35 wheels with either 15 or 20 mm front spacers, depending on aftermarket front struts and spring diameter/length used. Spacers can also be used to alter static handling balance by changing front or rear track width. Nevertheless, I do agree that it is better to use aftermarket wheels with proper offsets but spacers can be an inexpensive option to improve the look of stock wheels, especially if they are being used as track wheels. A square set of rear 219M stock wheels is a nice inexpensive track wheel setup with a 12-15 mm rear spacer to keep the track width ratio similar to stock.

I knew people were running with 11" rears, which funny enough made me confident to go with 10.5". I knew a guy that had 20" by 11" with rubber bands as tires.

I daily drive mine and put almost 14k on it last year. I wanted 19" because the style 219 wheels were 18" and they were way too skinny. These cars have such a good-looking rear that really shows off wide tires and stances well. More than anything I wanted a flush meaty look to the tires. It was also a big piece of mind thing for me as well as I am making almost 600hp with my supercharger and I wanted more rubber to put down.

How much did 285mm fronts change the handling? I'd imagine that it would change with that much more width and weight. I know the camber plate were needed for handling, as much as the clearance.

I didn't know manufactures were still putting spacers on factory racecars. I know Porsche did in the 80s and 90s because they were poor but had no clue anyone was still doing it.

The front 285 200TW or race slick tire weight isn’t really noticeable in an 18” and with 18” wheels that weigh around 18 lb. 11” is for street use. I also have PFC z54 front and z45 rear brake kits which help to reduce unsprung weight. I’ve also installed MCS 3WRs with F 750 lb/in and R 1100 lb/in spring rates and have it setup with a minimal amount of static understeer balance at the limit for driver confidence. I tried F 800 and rear 1200 lb/in, which would be perfect for a purpose-built race car, but I prefer to bring it home in one piece with it being used for track days only. Front toe is set slightly negative to help with initial change of direction at turn in and corner braking to the apex. As for rear traction, I use the minimum amount of rear camber around -2.1 to -2.3 deg.

BMW has used thick spacers on factory f82, f87 and g82 race cars so square wheel setups can be used. BimmerWorld’s f82 GTmore also uses thick front spacers along with upper eye mounts on gt4/GTmore offset camber plates so you can run 11” wide front wheels with 305 to 315 tires. The full weight f82 GTmore is 4-5 sec/lap faster than the f82 gt4 race car at VIR. I’ve been using spacers for a while but the thick spacers BMW uses confirms what I already knew - spacers are safe as long as they are high quality and proper installation is used. The majority of f8x track cars use 15-20 mm spacers, plus the gt4 and GTmore’s use of 30-41 mm spacers, and I’m unaware of any failures due to thick spacer use.
