It fluctuates a little between tad bit under or over the 210 mid point.
Hope this stays good cuz past BMWs I've had and others I noticed suffered from overheating quite easily.

210 seems normal, a little over if i'm driving more aggressively.
same here...tad under 210 on normal driving and a bit over 210 on some spirited or high mph runs....

Pretty new to the S65. It seems to require about 10-13 miles of freeway driving <3K RPM to get to a smidge under 210.

On way home slogging through traffic, but revving it up to 6K at times in lower gears, saw this while I was parking in the garage.

Is this normal? It seems higher than what I've seen in the past with the only thing that changed recently being the Eventuri plenum install.

I was also alarmed when my S65 first surpassed 210°. This seems to be well within the operating temperature range though.

Normal.
Just under 210 degrees is what you will see with highway driving or right when it gets up to temp, but you haven't gotten up in the rev range yet. With some spirited driving, it will often sit above 210. Sometimes right above 210, but I've had plenty of times it's probably more in the 220-230 degree range when I'm on a mountain run

My M3 is supercharged so I might see slightly higher temps, but I had a stock E92 M3 two years ago and it ran the same temps.

I am pretty new to my 2013 E92, but I came from 35+ years of air-cooled Porsche 911 ownership so oil temps were a pretty big deal. I remember reading in one of the magazines years ago that 195 to 210F was normal. 220 to 230 was considered hot. Above 250 was too damn hot. I used to run a lot of track days at Charlotte in the summer and I would see about 230 after a 20-30 minute session. Never had any oil related issues.

That ac is trash though lol.

Thanks for everyone’s input. Coolant is at max and with 10k miles on the odo will keep an eye out hopefully for many more miles of s65 motoring in the LA canyons.

I've been hitting up to 132C/270F on spirited hill runs quite often with zero issues. No warnings or errors, zero oil consumption. At track I get even above that, and with coolant temps up to 112C/234F. Again with no issues. Just drive the car hard. If she doesn't like it she will tell you.

Lots of driving up and down California. Sometimes Nevada and Arizona. I prefer to drive Purl and not a work vehicle if I can.
So why is it that those from back in 2009 in this very thread reporting that their engine oil temp gauge sits right at 210 (or even less) during normal driving yet in my 2011 in 2026 with 10K miles I'm above 210 regularly (same normal driving)?

Various reasons:
A) Not running 10W60 OEM oil
B) Oil cooler fins damaged, bent or blocked by bugs
C) Oil volume not completely full
D) Ambient temperature very high
E) Constant high RPM aggressive driving
F) Coolant level low
H) Radiator fins damaged, bent or blocked by bugs
I) Thermostat failing or failed shut
J) Radiator fan temperature sensor failed
K) Radiator fan temperature sensor wiring or fuse failed

That's enough for now.
