E92 Track Build Thread

Cage is in and looks amazing (to me at least). Cage is a 1 off from Ben at Rogue and a local Cincy Powder Coating company called JSC hit it with two layers of Tiffany Blue.

Hoping I should be able to button up the majority of the interior this weekend and get one step closer to the finish line.

Going for a Falken Tire Livery Tribute with my royal blue harnesses and the cage. It's a nod to my old JDM days. Plus, the car needed a touch of color!

Looks awesome. I love the understated look with accent colors.

Another weekend, more progress. Bottom end of engine is done after having to order the OEM spacer/dowel set for the two oil pumps. Now we were able to flip the engine over and get the first head torqued down to spec.

Also had the opportunity to button up the interior 99% of the way there, just waiting on a few parts. The Rogue Harness Collars are lovely and made of aluminum. I also got magnetic collars for the shoulder straps so its easier to find them once you jump in.

We are getting there boys!

Only the rear is gutted and this will be still street driven at times. Didn't want to have to wear my helmet every time I got around to driving it, even though would be funny.

i will say that halo seat on the street is a bitch. i drove mine around a mile or two here there between shops and you lose a good chunk of peripheral vision.

You aren't wrong, I am pretty adjusted to this as I've had the seat for a year already and can see OVER the halo (I'm 6'3".)

no different than driving a car with horrible blind spots.. looking at you MK5 supra, Miatas, Camaro... lmao

although easy fix sort of with a convex rear mirror sort of.

I have a Broadway 300MM clip on for track days.

Family we are ALMOST there! I took off Friday from work and spent the last two days putting all the accessories back on the car along with the headers. One pully and coolant pipe need to stay off until we finish timing the car but the rest of it is DONE.

After we time it we get to throw it in there, so happy we are finally getting to the finish line.

Engine is in! Got a lot of work done this weekend (and took a small step backwards).

1. Engine was timed and buttoned up.
2. We got her in sitting on her own.
3. Clutch & flywheel done, PS done, top of engine harness done
4. Wiring for Oil Pressure Switch and Shift light ran from cabin to engine
5. Transmission mistake (see pics). I cracked an ear on the bellhousing, live and learn. A welder friend is picking it up tonight and will have it back this week, so not much of a loss.

Hoping to hear this thing running next weekend!

Although I'm surprised you didn't go a bit extra and get a new valve cover after all that, although YMMV here.

I replaced just my VCG in 2019-2020 on a fresh vac 4.4, 7 years later it started weeping lmao. So not bad~ but at the time I don't think VC options were available to me.

Gotta make sure the trans is seated all the way and aligned! Also make sure you didn't pinch a harness there. Can't be tugging too hard on the bolts.

I would be lying if I said I have not done that before. I certainly have. Welder friends are good friends to have! Make sure you check the mating surface with a straight edge before throwing her back in.

I don't disagree with you at all. These valve covers only have 14k miles on them, even though they are dirty (racecar things.)

I will eventually upgrade the valvecovers but figured I would use these until they start weeping in a few years.

Thanks for the support. I didn't want to lie and act like everything goes perfectly all the time. I am not a mechanic, I sell soap (Tide Laundry) lol. I am dangerous enough behind a wrench but am not a professional in any way.

The welder is going to make a plate to sit across the face of the bellhousing to ensure the piece goes back on smooth and straight.

Luckily he is local and will have it back this week. The way I look at it is live and learn, stuff happens and it's about fixing it the right way.

There's nothing quite like a successful first start to put the wind back into your sails and give you energy to button everything else back up. She sounds good!

the best part is when you are going to start freaking out for the entire break in process and then wonder why you have a bunch of glitter in your oil filter.
