I use to host a weekly ACH drive at like 7AM on Sat or Sunday for a solid 3 years. It was fun until it started getting repetitive waiting for people to show up, now I just solo drive on my own terms. but I've always done solo canyon drives since 2009. especially when I can show up at 530am and be back down by 630am and off to get breakfast.

I'm good with ACH up to Newcomb's (I go to the Good Vibes meet quite frequently) for our next one. I'll get the route locked in and will be posting this up soon!

Also happy to make it a monthly meet for people to join whenever they have time!

Weekly is killer lol, don't think I could do that consistently!

yeah it was nuts, but due to that meet up, i've meet some really close friends now. But i also felt responsible for the people that showed up with skill issues and that always sat in the back of my mind lol.

UPDATE II - HWY 2 Road Closure

Gents

This morning just discovered CalTrans hwy 2 closure notice.
Looks like significant enroute changes to Newcomb's Ranch - distance & time increases.

Shall we Go or Postpone...thoughts, comments???

When I drive on ACH I usually don't drive pass Angeles Forest Hwy in the AM since part of the year its direct sunlight and lots of blind corners. I always prefer to turn left to Angeles Forest Hwy and reach Big Tujunga Dam overlook or Big Tujunga Bridge. Its a pretty good drive but down hill for the most part.

With Hwy 2 closed and area construction, driving to Good Vibes/Newcomb's Ranch = major PITA tomorrow.
Essentially drive plan remains similar [ie time & distance] w/o Newcomb's as rally point.

Yup fully concur with assessment..slight route modification proposed, posted to hopefully avoid said related 'road issues' 🤞🏽
