E90 M3 Issue

114k miles on the clock, drove perfectly fine to the destination. Once I got there, the car was refusing to turn off. I kept trying, but it wouldn’t. Finally, it did, however then it kept flashing between N and P. I got nervous, so I turned the car back on. This time, it went straight into engine start without my foot on the brake and on the first click (still flashing between P and N, sometimes showing no gear at all. It refused to go into R for more than a second before going back to flashing.

I left the car and came back hoping it would go back to normal. Nope. Finally got it into R and just stepped on it before it could flash back. It magically started working again.

About 5 mins into the drive, I got an ABS malfunction error. Car drove fine the whole way home. Busy so I haven’t had a chance to check on it again or try and get codes, but plan on doing so later tonight.

Any thoughts?

You have posted in the "General M3 Forum" but your profile shows 335xi: It is very likely you need to replace the AGM battery in your car. How old is the battery? All sorts of gremlins come out to play when the battery is no longer accepting charge. The alternator typically starts to fail around the 120K mile mark and you're pretty close. Does the car have the "start - stop" system which turns off the engine when stopped and idling for example at a red light? That system puts stress on the starter motor, and battery. When the car is parked use a multi-meter to check the voltage between the terminals under the hood. See photo of my battery voltage surface charge reading. This forum has a plethora of battery threads with examples of all sorts of codes and weird happenings as the battery begins failing - as well as the alternator. You can check the alternator output by measuring the voltage across the same terminals under hood when the engine is running.

"Weird"...based on OP pic, VIN decoding shows a 2008 e92 M3 yet post indicates related to e90 M3 :confused2

that's not OPs car, just an example of voltage.

i believe they do have a SS E90 M3 though.
Finally got around to scanning for codes

You may want to try again, pics are too small and grainy.

Yes it's the plethora of codes that typically manifest when the car has a sh_tty battery. You're posting in the E9X M3 forum. Is there a reason for that?

Yes, sorry. Never got around to updating the bio. Currently in a 2011 E90 M3. Will check the voltage.
I had my battery tested yesterday & CCA readings were fine. I noticed however that while driving, it was auto-shifting me from 2nd to 3rd randomly while in manual mode. Nothing else unusual during the drive. However, as soon as I pulled into my spot, the engine just shut off (radio & lights still on). I was able to turn it back on easily, and it stayed on for at least 15 minutes before I turned it off myself.

After scanning again, these codes remain:

5DA3 - Speed controller front right
5FF2 - analog wheel speed right: deviation too big
5FF8 - CAN wheel speeds: timeout or invalid

Wheel speed sensor maybe gone bad?
See if you can grab live data from the wheels while slowly rolling forward.
Alternator….
