HELP... I had a little run in with an ice chunk on the road (ie: low clearance issue) which broke off a
black plastic piece under the front of the car which was bolted to the very back part of the air dam (the chunk cleared the front bumper air dam
but caught this piece which is the lowest point under the front. I looked up the part and I think it is called a "front splash shield?" It looks like it covers some
radiator hoses etc under the front. Part of it is still bolted on but the middle cracked piece is in my trunk. Does anyone know if I
am correct on the part name?..It is approx 3ft wide and 18 inches deep.

Warranty??..they did replace a broken cup holder.

thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!...
not sure how or why you would expect bmw warranty to cover something damaged due to "wear and tear"? it's an unfortunate accident for sure, but don't see BMW paying for your accident. I could be wrong tho and maybe your dealership/CA is really a nice guy....good luck

did you look up the piece using realoem.com? might help clarify which piece you are talking about?

Warranty does not cover things that are broken off due to collision. Your gonna have to pay out of pocket on this one. If it cost more than your deductible, insurance may be an option but it may not be worth the trouble. Sorry to hear bout your loss though...
No way BMW covers that, but those parts are relatively cheap, even if you broke off all 3 of them. Outer ones are $20 a piece, and middle one $125 I think. Check all 3 carefully before you order anything. They're important since they give the lower bumper its rigidity, plus they play an important aerodynamic role. Oh, and the middle one is designed for the oil cooler, and directs hot air under the car. Easy DIY, so not that bad of a deal. Good luck.
^yea i replaced mine myself , i had hit a cone
Good grief... lift it up, find out what piece it is, tell insurance company or if you dont think you can lift the car up by yourself then take that to a shop and have them do it. If I was there I"d hold your hand :) I"m sure its covered under insurance lmao...
I broke mine and I don't know how. I was very pissed off when I saw it last week. I been extremely careful with it. I know it was not done during ED since I drove it careful and have been careful here so it make me wonder.

Good thread.
Thanks for all the input....it is number 20 indeed on the attached link above!..you guys are always helpful...the warranty comment was sort of a joke...but why not try...:)

My wife hit a curb stop and ripped that puppy out. We paid for it out of pocket and I never considered BMW paying for it.
^they wont , they quoted me $450 + tax to replace with labor

i bought it and put them on myself , saved a ton of cash
Sorry to hear that. Where were you driving? I just ordered a lip should make Minnesota winters interesting.
DB...no biggie...I was driving down a one way one lane alley...thought I could clear it. Let me see the lip after you have it on.
