The 6 speed has no power in the steering wheel area, only the SMG does.
I do have a 6 mt wheel and manual tranmission.
Thanks in advance.
do you even have one ?! the wheel works with both DCT and 6mt. and how can you say there is no power in the steering wheel area? if thats the case, how do the steering wheel buttons work ? or the horn for that matter. if you have one, read through the instructions, there is wiring that you need to do to make the wheel work.

Yes I have one.
The buttons have wiring but no power for the digital read outs, there is nothing there the wiring is just for the buttons on the normal m3 wheel.
I took it to a BMW dealership and this is what they concluded even after phone calls to BMW. I am very puzzled.
Install instructions (a PDF document) can be found in this thread.
Just installed one this weekend. The included harness has a green and brown wire for power, which I t- tapped at cig lighter. Works great.
You need a different clockspring. It has a small harness that connects giving power to the new wheel. You'll also need to "tap" additional wires to a connector behind the steering column area.

This is the original. The one you need for your LED performance wheel will have a thin wiring harness come out of it.

Then these two wires on the left that are tapped into the harness in the passenger footwell need to be routed to the steering column and are tapped into the harness there (in addition to the 7 or so wires that are currently there for your existing wheel buttons).

It's all in the PDF referenced in the above posts.
