Auto Classic had a CSL for sale late 2007/ early 2008- for some reason they couldn't sell it and ended up letting it go for about $110k instead of the $150k they were asking initially.
I ended up buying a standard M3 as thought CSL was a bit impractical for DD- how i regret that... CSL's still selling for simlar money, 2006 M3's- not so much :(

Only problem with them now is that they are getting old, if you started to put km's on it i think it would depreciate very quickly.

Vantage gets my vote- still have serious presence and not much sounds better.
Interesting topic. I will keep my '07 manual M3. Last of the natural aspirated and it's a manual. They will be hard to come by in the future with the M-DCT being popular and making a strong claim.

We all bought M3s because it was the car we dreamt of or the only sports car that is close to a super car in our budget. The engine at the time of the launch was the most advanced V8. Any car older than the M3 is a step backwards. Drive your M3 for now and enjoy the sound track ... I mean with the BMW ///Performance exhaust. It's music to the ears.
Like many here I guess, I have owned a succession of performance cars that I have always aspired to. For me, that line of succession will end with a P-car, specifically a GT3, or if funds allow, a 911 Turbo. This is the car I have always wanted to own and drive, since I was around 12 yo. My cars over the last decade have been as follows:

'03 Subaru Impreza WRX (2003-2005)
'05 Subaru Impreza WRX STi (2005-2007)
'07 Mitsubishi Evo IX (2007-2009)
'09 BMW E92 M3 (2009-current) + '02 Subaru Impreza WRX STi (2010-current)

I plan to keep my M3 for a while yet though
If you're serious on a Vantage then don't leave the Audi RS5 off your list. Test drove 1 of them before I bought the M3. Similar performance but awd adds another dimension, plus loads of technology in that thing. it also seats 4.
i'll weigh into this discussion a little. Barring any change in my absence of children, i would go for a 06-07 Gallardo, F430 or 06-07 AM V8. Perhaps a 997 turbo, they are an awesome driver's car but the shape does little to differentiate it from the preceeding year and probably the succeeding year, plus the fact that i already have a '67 porsche.

navigation, telephone, electice seats, idrive... ;)
haha fair enough, but don't you only drive your car on the weekends? just get a Fezza haha
Used 997 GT3, 911 GTS or Cayman R...not sure yet.
Just waiting on the kids to grow out of kiddie seats and then I'll shoe horn them into a 911 turbo or gt3. Can't remember if the gt3 has back seats or not ... Maybe a second hand ferarri FF? ;)
FYI, this car is in prod and not far away, visit you local dealer hahahaha

Anyway, you can just vinyl wrap you car in Matte black if you really like that colour......
Agree with the maintenance, though I have seen a post somewhere on here with a guy who has polished it .. without issue :confused2

Shot this in Frankfurt last month, got a bit of a chubby when I walked towards Avis then saw it for hire at SIXT

That's the one they had at Brighton BMW around Easter...asking $219k otr...it was gone by the time I went back a week later though!! $219k is ridiculous for a M3...IMO
haha you saw the phoenix yellow one?? I saw it back in December or January or something like that...it looked horrid IMO!!! RS5s are like $200k on carsales as well, which is also ridiculous! You might as well just go and buy a 911
porsche turbo
