I recently purchased a used 2008 M3 - convertible.
I was getting the 'Reduced power' notifications others have described. I took it to BMW and had new software upgrade and Dinan power upgrade as well. It's been about 100 miles since then and still occasionally getting the same message and also an 'emissions' warning. Any feedback is appreciated.

You need to acquire an OBDII scan tool to read the actual code. There are inexpensive options and very expensive ones as well - stand alone tools or connectors to computers/tablets. For example, I have both a USB cable for Windows and a bluetooth scantool dongle for an Android app.

You might start by going to an auto parts store that offers free code reading to customers. You can then look up the meaning of the codes you find in this thread.
So changed my valve cover gaskets today. Simple enough job. Plenum off. Undo wiring to ignition coils and injectors. Remove covers and replace BUT I got 2 errors after warm up cycle.

2754 and 2755. DME: Ignition, cylinder 2, activation & same for cylinder 3.

Checked plugs, all snug. No broken wires (visually checked)

Could both coils be bad?

Thanks

thank you very much for finding that and linking it.
You are welcome.
P1515 anyone? It seems to possibly mean a lot of things...

I have been trying to find a friend with a code reader that can give me BMW specific codes over the weekend. If I have no luck I guess I just go to the dealer on Monday and pay them to run it for me?

Edit:

Nevermind, I tracked down a buddy with a proper code reader. He is coming out tomorrow to help, so I will post what I find. Carry on :)

Battery.
I had my battery checked yesterday at autozone and it was fully charged, but it might have something to do with one of the cables.

A couple nights ago after dinner, my car wouldn't start and we found one of the battery cables had come disconnected. Easy fix, then went home. I was thinking this code might be related to that. Maybe that cable isn't properly connecting to the battery. I'm gonna go mess around with it right now.

Thanks :)

Yes, that can definitely cause this error. Check all of the cables and IBS connections.

Just for the sake of following up - after making sure all the connections were secure and everything was right, I cleared the electrical code to get rid of my CEL because I felt fairly confident the issue had been resolved. It's been almost 3 days and the CEL has not returned, yay!

I guess the positive cable was loose and eventually came disconnected, which caused the code in the first place. After fixing it everything is fine.

Thanks for responding to me! You being so sure P1515 was battery related helped me connect the dots. I'm quite happy about it :)

Anyone have thoughts on 2b29? Been getting this code along with limp mode when cold starting. Car sounds like its struggling to turn over yet battery is new and strong. I turn off and turn back on and all is normal and the CEL is gone but stores this code

27EB INDEX 219 INJ

I've gotten 2 codes: 5DB3 and 5DB6. Any thoughts on how these two differ?
