anyone who thinks RB are a conspiracy might as well believe earth is square.
Square? Preposterous! But flat? Definitely!

Anyhow - sorry, OP. Hope you get it sorted.
Drive like a grandma, change RB every 50k miles, the car will out last you!

That’s what I’m going for!

Sounds like a recipe for needing to replace catalytic converters.

You won’t get the moisture out if you drive like a grandma. These engines like to be driven with purpose.

If you replace with BE bearings. And change your spark plugs every 15k miles. I don’t see the need to do the rod bearings ever again TBH.

Good luck with the replacement motor. And make sure to do the bearings on it...

I don’t know ask bill gates. He made the virus, and has also made the vaccine. Funny how that works.
UPDATE!!!! Just got a call from the Stealership... They are saying it was a fuel injector failure and that caused the engine to blow.... Warranty does not cover the fuel injector they say.... I'm calling bullshit... I will be going down to the Stealership tomorrow and figure this all out... I know I spun a bearing, but have not had a confirmation from a BMW technician regarding what has happened.

Does anyone know if that's even possible (fuel injector failure will blow the engine)??!??!?!! When my engine blew it was driving just fine... then all of a sudden limp mode and dead engine...

HELP!?!?!?!?!

Ask to see the crank and bearings ...

But it can happen but I would think fine to siezed In 3 sec is unlikely ...

How big is the hole in the block ?

We should have a poll or something where the people who think the rod bearings are a conspiracy put their names. It would provide more entertainment when it blows
Except if that vocal ... they would never come back and admit their engines blew ... they will just melt away and never be heard from again ....
I think there is another failure attributed to a bad fuel injector. Did it fail towards open and hydro lock or did it fail towards closed and cause detonation?
years ago one of the guys on M3F had his injectors dump a bunch of fuel into the cylinder when his E60 M5 was in the garage overnight and he ended up blowing his engine. they gave him a new motor and then that one blew too for the same reason because they used some of the old injectors on the new motor.
