A few people replied, but they didn't follow it up.
And as you know I posted pics of your one, thanks again for shipping it over :).

I did wonder about starting a thread asking people to rub a shell down, but tbh I forgot about it, and I'm not sure I'll get much of a response anyway. Compared to somethings though, it's easy data to get!

Not my S65, my S85 I am working on. Same bearings, just 2 extra cylinders. Numbers 6 and 8 pretty bad, but no crank damage. 🔧💣

Interesting to see high mileage Alu/Sn bearings.
High mileage shells
95,072 miles off my 2011 E90 M3 ZCP.

Always warmed up, never tracked. Replaced with BE + ARP Bolts at SV Bimmer in San Jose, CA.

M3 E92 LCI with production date May 2010. 120854 km/75095 miles. The RB’s were replaced five years ago at 88471 km/54973 miles with 702/703 bearings and BMW bolts. I am now replacing them with BE and BE-ARP bolts. Old RB’s has only got 32383 km/20121 miles on them.

Nice post Nicke! Yeah looks to be some wear even after 3.2kkm only, maybe sign that crank/shells was on the tight end. Anyways great with new ones in place!
Also interesting with your plasti checking vs old shells, tad weird on cyl 5 but probably not more exact than so.

Btw where do you see no5 clearance figures? They're obscured to me on that pic....
(No8's figures seem weird to me, been reversed??).

And possibly the 1st photos of LCI bearings that have worn through to the copper that I've seen?? (no4 top).
I don't suppose you want to perform a simple little experiment on that shell? (and ideally 1 of the other top bearings).

I posted this a while back from a friend's LCI after 125k miles: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=26312408&postcount=1688 maybe that was the first one you saw showing copper? :)

I changed mine (LCI) at 59k miles: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=25005753&postcount=1123 so will do your test as I never knew LCI shells had copper but was confused why my friend's above LCI was showing copperish hues.
Thanks Helmsman. Sorry for the bad pic. Here is a better one. The top shell for cylinder #7 is pretty worn down. Thankfully no scoring marks on the crank - it is silky smooth.

I guess that you mean cyl #7, top bearing (once again, sorry for the bad picture, a new one has been uploaded - see my previous post). Measured the play for the old bearings for cyl # 4 and 5. For cyl #5 I got 0,051mm for the old bearing and 0,038mm for the new BE Bearing... Wired. I'm going to remove it tonight and do a new measurement. Good thing that I choose reusable ARP-bolts...
