Installed new fuel injectors. I'm genuinely surprised at the improvement. Smoother idle, quieter, much better throttle response. 100% worth the time and money, IMO.
Nice. Stock or an upgrade of some kind?
They're OEM injectors from Bosch.

…"DriveCycle" complete.
Took a short test drive around town last night.
Stopped to goof on my phone for 5 minutes while it idled, then hopped on the freeway for 2 miles and headed home thru town.

Drove around town this morning running errands, coffee, parts store, then hopped on the freeway for less than 10 miles, then the 4 miles on the blvd back home.

All ready for the automotive colonoscopy tomorrow.

Returned home late last night after a 400 mile round trip to Puget Sound area and back yesterday to see my nephews play. Did a 7800 mile Red Line 5w50 oil change, inspected a ? Leaking diff seal, and used some simple green and paper towels to clean up the undercarriage. Finished with a quick handwash. Need to change my wife's differential fluid later today so moved quickly this morning. Will post pictures of my diff separately to see if the group agrees with my diagnosis.

That's 7800 miles since mid March. That, gentlemen, is how you live with a supercharged 6mt e90 - by driving the piss out of it!

I've been getting a bank 1 O2 sensor code pretty consistently, and that one was definitely more crusty than the bank 2 one.. Hopefully this addresses it.

Wasn't thrilled to see that they weren't OE/M

oh and forgot to say -- (sorry if everyone already knows this).. you _can_ take out the bank 1 probe without dropping the belly pan, you just need a thin 10mm wrench and some patience. feed it through from the exhaust side, and hold it in place with your fingers from the oil drain plug opening.

didn't want to drop the pan because it looks like it's using single use stretch bolts and i didn't want to waste them for something so small.

Looks great!
Drove mine after a while and pushed it to 90. I drive mine like a grandpa lol

Also 90 in Bay Area traffic is tough to do

The single use stretch bolt on that pan is such BS. I have had mine on and off 5 or more times on the original bolts. I put them back in with my Milwaukee impact and give them 3 ugga duggas. They are not head bolts ffs.

Crappy thing about changing O2s without dropping the pan is that you have to piss around with the little 10mm fasteners. I have done it that way but now I drop the plate.

I was going to take the wife out for a date last night and the throttle actuator(s) failed in the driveway... They lasted 130k miles, and I am glad the car didn't leave us stranded far from home.

I would agree, using torque-to-yield bolts outside of a powertrain application is annoying. And I too just end up reusing these most of the time. :mad0259:

I think you've talking about the flat aluminum bolts on the transmission shield? They do come off and can be reused. The heavier shield under the motor, those aren't stretch bolts to my knowledge. I've had them off quite a few times. I tend to avoid shortcuts on BMWs because I never end up saving myself any time, lol. The only thing I end up reducing is my patience. But super impressed you changed those out with the shield in place.

I am thinking he is talking about the brace under the engine. It does double duty as both a shield and as a structural element of the front chassis. As such, the bolts there are bearing a great deal of load as the chassis flexes, however in looking it up just now there is no mention of these bolts being torque-to-yield, just regular M10 10.9 bolts. Perhaps he is talking about something else....

no, that's what i'm talking about.. TIS (via forum post here, fwiw) says 41 ft-lbs of torque + 90 degrees and to not reuse.

they're not, but given that it's also a stiffness brace and likely sees a good amount of work i figured i'd not want to reuse them esp since i'm likely going to track it.

i had enough room to rotate the harness as i threaded the sensor in :confused2
