The forum members told me if I had the manual transmission itch nothing else would scratch it. So I added a Harrop supercharger to my dct e93…… and then moved it to a manual e90 and never looked back.

The forum members told me I’d graduate to a P car from the M platform. I said Never! Their value is unmatched with the pricing. Let’s see how that turned out:

Preparing Rocky (my Harrop e90) for the arrival of his new older sister, a ‘99 996 with upgraded wheels and IMS bearing, otherwise stock with 6mt and 54k miles.

Ironically I view this new acquisition as my slow car to drive fast….

Please share your thoughts once you have them both. I have an itch for a 996 4s…

Did they start selling this amp again? I haven't seen it on their site in a while.
Added a strip of tint on the tail lights (turn signals).

My LCI tail lights from Mashimarho started fading so I finally put my original pre-LCI lights back on.

You’re anticipating needing a diff cooler in this car? Assuming that’s what I’m looking at.

What is this? A pump and cooler, right? but for what part.

Honestly, it's more-so just to have it.

It's a rear differential pump and cooler (universal fit).
Washed it and switched the wheels and pads back to street mode. In the last few weekends I did Thunderhill east and then drove the car down to buttonwillow and did my first BW track day on the 13cw configuration. I had an absolute blast! I don't think I've ever had so much fun on a track... that's a killer race track! The car survived. I'm always a little nervous for it as I've had a few track related mechanical failures in the past, so making the 250 mile journey each way felt somewhat of an accomplishment for me and the car.. lol. Enjoy your weekend.. cheers.

Hello, I called the BMW dealer today, and they informed me that the dealer does not recommend a transmission fluid change for the vehicle's life. I have a 2011 M3, and the transmission is jolting in traffic. Any recommendations?

There's tons of threads on DCT fluid change. TL;DR - stop going to the dealer and get it changed at a good indy BMW mech.

Dealers will spout the party line from their brand and most enthusiasts recommend changing the fluid every 50k miles.

That said, you may just have the throttle set too aggressively for stop and go traffic. If it’s set to an aggressive setting the car is more likely to lurch in those situations. I’ve experienced it with both transmissions. Down at the gear shift there is a button labeled Power. Next time in that situation hit that button so the light is no longer illuminated. That switches the throttle to the least aggressive setting and makes slow speed driving smoother. If all is well, then not a transmission problem. I get the same problem on my wife’s x5 when the throttle is set to sport plus.

Thank you for your comment, much appreciated!

Since your 359s are also new, do not think about it, just do it. I used Mother's CMX Surface Prep (sprayed and then wiped with a microfiber towel, it couldn't be easier) and then applied the ceramic. I am pretty sure that in the long run I will get back the time I invested, by spending less time when washing them.

As per your question, I used the UV Graphene Ceramic Coating by Adam's which is supposed to be good for 7+ years, and I did two layers. If what I read about this product is 90% true, and given I do very low miles with the M3 (AKA my garage queen), I hope they will be good for years. The whole idea for the project was that 359s are stunning, but hard to keep pristine, so anything that makes them easier to clean is worth a chance...

PS Many people find the UV functionality of the specific coating to be just marketing gimmick, but this was not the case with me. I did my best not to cover the two lips where the balancing weights go, but inspection with the UV light revealed a few spots where the coating "slipped" under the painter's tape I used. I spoke to Adams, and they said some compound will remove it :)
Gotta love the level of OCD with the UV lamp check...:D

Agree some rim protection is gold worth. I do the easy way and put some Trurtle ceramic on every season when changing between summers/winders. Rarely clean the rim barrel in between, degreaser and high pressure does the job.
Completed my recaro install over the weekend!

Today I have a load of parts coming in, thank god for chase rewards credit cards 🙏
Will be installing full set of coil overs, removing valve covers to fix a leak (finally) and deep cleaning/ painting them matte with a wrinkle effect. Also replacing my fuel breather valve after some idle issues after fueling up.
Replaced the original motor mounts with 52K on the clock.

Overall shifting with the new mounts is a lot crisper and smoother. I went with Vibra technics mounts. No increase NVH at all. I read some old threads about these mounts where they have failed prematurely due to extreme heat, or hot climates and some recommended them to be wrapped. This car is a weekend toy and never sits in traffic, or used daily so I am not worried about it. So far I am impressed with the quality and comfort level of them.

It appears our 6mt's are sensitive to worn mounts because my shifter before was pretty notchy and immediately noticed a difference.

I was expecting the originals to be worse -

Those engine mount photos you posted sure look like OEM engine mounts to me. Here’s a picture of what Vibra Technics S65 engine mounts actually look like, as well as the OEM mount in comparison. Are you sure you actually received Vibra Technics mounts or are the photos you posted of your old 52K mounts? See images below and compare to your photos posted above.

The picture above is the old OEM motor mounts.

I didn't take a picture of the Vibra's as I never took them out of the box and had a shop to this install as I don't have time.

I was just showing the old OEM's as a reference because I was expecting the 52K mile OEM mounts to be completely shot, and they actually weren't terrible (I'm sure we've all seen worse).
