Persian nougat (no pics) from a Middle Eastern grocery. So good. One of them was flavored with rose water, a game-changer if you have never tasted it before. Tastes like nothing else.

how old are you? i feel like folks entering their 50s have dessert. up until that age theres just no time considering kids schedules etc. of course this is just my opinion. if we have dessert it's because our kids ask for a popscicle.

Syrian nougat with speculoos and rose petals

In the window of a Syrian pastry shop in Brussels. Background in the photo shows a tower of baklava, awesome!

Nougat is cooked sugar and honey with whipped egg whites. Speculoos is a sweet paste made with ginger and cinnamon, very popular in Belgium. You are probably familiar with Lotus Biscoff cookies (Delta Airlines serves them), which have a speculoos flavor.

Unbelieveable craftsmanship.
