Finally got around to installing the V3 carbon driveshaft from YFCM.

What was the basis, cause, or need to replace the driveshaft???
:confused2

Not M3 related but added a Corolla Hatchback to the fleet for my daughter. My son has the sedan and we loved it. Great first car with awesome tech for the price. Looking to do some tasteful mods.
Looks good, will look better with some light mods

Yeah. Plan on doing a few small things on it. Great first car for a new driver.

Impressions of how it feels?

With the DSSR, did you already have a SSK installed and if so, which one? Wondering if it makes sense to do this with the AS SSK? Looks like you can easily get to the carrier bushing when doing the CF DS installation, something I regret not changing (Turner's) when I did my AS SSK!

The infamous clunk was slowly coming back after i had the center support bearing replaced about two years ago. But after removing the DS, it appears that it may not have been the DS but the excess of backlash from the differential that was causing the clunk!

I've always wanted a one-piece carbon DS and ~10lbs weight savings doesn't hurt either. Now I'm in search for an upgraded differential next. The damn mod bug for this car never ends... :confused2

I haven't drove the car yet, but can't wait to test out the new CF DS!

So I had the Turner shifter carrier bushing installed when I did my AS SSK and did not like it. Kind of hard to explain but it made the shifting very rigid and harder to get into gear. Not sure if my transmission is on its way out but I went back to stock bushing and it felt a lot better. I have Bimmerworld’s Group N motor mounts and 034 Motorsports transmission mounts if it matters.

Concur 100%...most mods are purely "wants".
Once 'bitten' by the mod bug, there's virtually no cure and highly contagiousness 🤑

Interesting, I just installed an AS SSK on my buddy's E60 M5 and learning from my previous mistake, installed the Turner bushing and liked how it felt.

So you installed the Rogue Engineering DSSR with your AS kit? If so, did it make a big difference? I'm very happy with the AS SSK but am always trying to improve the shifter feel in this car!
Can’t believe I’m coming up on 5 years of ownership! Had new PS4S installed (265/35R18 and 285/35R18)… soon, the dirty bird will get a detail, paint correction, and ceramic…

Finally got the M3 back after a couple weeks hanging out at the shop. It killed another axle after 250 miles. The rear Hothckis sway bar was eating the axles, particularly the passenger side rear, since the car is corner balanced.

Brought it back to the shop. They replaced the axle gratis, then worked with me to fix the sway bar setup. They mentioned not having this issue with 5 other local cars running the bar, so we did something a little custom. Had them raise the ride height a little, and then they ordered a longer SPL end link body to swap in.

I did get a laugh out of how they tested the clearance of the car. In the email they mentioned putting 800 lbs of people in the rear of the car while it was on the alignment rack. I was imagining a clown car. I asked when I picked up the car. They put 3-4 guys in the rear seat, and shoved a dude in the trunk. Clown car actually was appropriate. :) The manager also put 200 lbs in the trunk and drove it for about 50 miles. So far, it seems to be running perfectly. They told me to beat the $#!t out of it and come back in 250-300 miles for a check over.

Stage 2 tune won’t do jack in regards to the smell of being catless. Only cats make a difference. Been there done that. Catless will always smell like satan’s asshole.
I flashed the tune today. Car does indeed still smell's like satan's asshole, but less pungent now. Before it was like satan's asshole after getting his money's worth at the Indian buffet. Could just be my hopeful imagination :confused2

I'll likely add 300 cell cats down the road. For now, just gonna enjoy the intoxicating sounds and put the windows up any time I'm idle/at a stop.

Shout out to Mike BPMSport's user avatarBPMSport for the great service.

Finally wrestled out the wheel bearing. I’m really hoping it’s the source of my vibration under braking. I checked it a few track days ago and it seemed alright. Then I went to measure runout on the rotor and noticed that the runout would change just from pressure on the lug bolts. Pulled the rotor again and saw a huge amount of play in the bearing. I’m assuming it was on its way out and the track use just accelerated it. I’ll do the other one too now that I know what’s involved. Not terrible, but impossible if you don’t have the right bearing puller.

Good luck finishing up the job. I always heard it’s a bear. Any tips on the “right” puller or other items for those tackling this in the future?

This one had the right sizes for our cars — https://a.co/d/28Dp1Fd

You’ll also need a 32mm socket, a 27mm socket, two breaker bars and ideally a thrust bearing washer deal (I had one in another kit that fit the one linked above). Honestly the hardest thing was getting the hub to come out. I legit spent an hour with the slide hammer. Only thing that kept me going was that I kept seeing progress on the caliper measurement. 1/100th mm at a time lol.

Oh and this video is great — obviously different chassis but similar enough. It was linked somewhere on here years ago.

Awesome. Thanks so much for the tips!

Not necessarily so...My cat-less, non-resonated system is virtually 'smell free'.

Essentially, running cat-less Stage II revels any 'weaknesses' in S65 combustion, associated systems, tune efficiencies. Suffered big time raw fuel smell regularly prior to literally comprehensive 'retuning'.

Rarely, I do mean rarely detect any whiff of "satan's asshole" with windows down...maybe an occasional fart if that :D
A welcomed outcome from recent extensive refreshes from PM maintenance, replacements of 'original' +13yr old parts/sensors/systems along with BPM Stage II.

I recently did this on my e90, I was sure the puller/press I was using was going to give before the axle broke free. It was all distorted trying to press the axle through the hub. What a relief when it finally popped free. That was the most difficult part for me, the slide hammer popped the hub off fairly easily, then pressing out/in the bearing went smoothly too.

I won't voluntarily do the other side until it is required.

I’ve run 3 catless cars including the M3 with a Dinan stage 2, they’ve always been tolerable while driving but stationary they smell terrible. Most troublesome is on CCA cruises when I’m in front of a club member with a vert. They end up smelling like my exhaust. And my garage smells terrible any time the car is running in there. It takes hours for the smell to dissipate if I don’t run a fan. I don’t doubt that Mikes tune is leagues better than Dinans but in my experience only cats bring the smell down to an acceptable level for me. Of course ymmv.
I have a BPM Stage 2 canned tune decatted and my car does smell like His Dark Lord's derriere. Strangely it also smells like my fave Lagavulin 16 scotch so I don't mind it so much lol
