Don't seem to be able to answer calls unless I use the idrive wheel, so not sure if I've done anything wrong, can hang up with the phone button on the steering wheel no problem though.
Same with mine... Is that to be expected?

Also, anyone turn off their car BT to help with switching over for calls?

always unpair and turn off the OEM BT when using a Mr12volt.
My BT is unpaired from the car, otherwise it'll keep bringing the phone menu when you press the phone button

Super fast shipping from Mr12Volt. Ordered 3/19 and arrived today 3/23. As stated in a few earlier posts, this no longer interfaces with the OE quadlock connector, which made the installation a bit faster.
Sorry if this has been asked. I'm currently looking at Mr12Volt MMI options as I have the H/K Most audio. Is the P3000 the latest model or isn't it for CIC units?

Wonder how this not interface with teh Quadlock, but anything that makes it easier, I'll take it.

PS With the quadlog diagram of the P2000 it's 'just' the quadlock, on the P3000 schema I see an extra connector going to iDrive controller.

Yes, P3000 is the latest model.

The recently retired OEM Mic version of the P2000 was the only version of the P2000 that used a quadlock adapter.

The 3 prior versions of the P2000, (the original p2000, p2000 lite, and p2000 DSP) all used the idrive controller connection method like the P3000 does.

The idrive controller connection method provides power and canbus connectivity. That is the only thing the unit actually needs besides the MOST connection.

The only reason I think the P2000 used the quadlock adapter in the first place instead of the idrive controller connection method is the unit may have needed more power than the previous P2000 units.

Sounds like they got the power requirements back down with the P3000. This could be something as simple as a newer SOC in the p3000, probably manufactured on a smaller process node, dropping the power requirements.
Glad J found this as I was to pull the trigger on the P2000, assuming no more updates, specially CIC systems. I even mailed them to ask about any future updates, so I don’t by something that gets updated soon.

Although too bad they didn’t add HDMi port as that opens up so much options. But since they are the only MOST MMI device, this really is the must-have unit.

Edit:
“ So, if you do not have a factory CD changer, no coding or bypassing is required. If you DO have a factory CD changer, you would need to bypass it with the MOST loop provided in the box, or deactivate it using your preferred coding tool.”

I wonder, can’t the CDC and MMI be connected both? I mean it’s just another device on the MOST bus, so why wouldn’t it see both? Unless it used same ‘handshake’?

Friend is mine installed one years ago in his Audi S8 and he can select both the Mr12Volt and his original CDC.

If no coding is needed for E series, how does the unit present itself now? Or still in the CDC menu?

The P2000/P3000 impersonates a CD changer on the MOST loop. idrive is not capable of handling multiple cd changers.
Do you have extraneous noise at maximum volume when no music is playing? (I have a blue model). Can you check it on your car? . I want to buy a P3000 (If they release it for NBT, not evo), I hope they fixed this problem.
Yes I’m hearing almost like Morse code with no sound playing through the system. Just noticed it a few weeks ago. Blue p2000

Im having a problem where some of the steering wheel controls are not working. To be precise its the 1) Accept Call Button 2) Next Song Button and 3)Previous Song Button.

Essentially the Call button and the 2 Arrow Buttons are not working. I also noticed that when I'm pressing the arrow buttons, the CD track is changing on IDrive even when im in the carplay interface

There is a setting that you need to confirm. I forget exactly where....I'd need to go back through a bunch of the old pages of this thread. I'll let you do that
I've been trying to find a solution but I can't find it. Is there a keyword or something I can use to search the thread? I've literally tried everything possible but no success
I found this within 30 seconds of searching this thread for "steering wheel"

Using Bimmercode:

Headunit -> Expert Mode -> 3000 HMI
Find SVS option and change it to nicht active
CODE -> START CODING

What is the BMW SVS module?

SVS stands for the voice recognition system. SVS is integrated into the CCC (CIC) unit located in the dashboard. It processes language input from voice commands.
SVS's main function is to control the various vehicle functions using voice commands.
BMW SVS can be used to control the following systems:

Entertainment
Communication
Navigation
Air conditioning Settings

Can't comment on the arrow buttons but as for the call button, you ideally need to disconnect bluetooth from the head unit, you also should disable the voice assistant and, for me anyway, the phone button doesn't work to answer calls, only to hang up so yours might work to hang up as well. Maybe this is a thing

We've now finished our initial testing of the P3000-BMCI for CIC compared to the outgoing P2000-CICMM.

In the video I show call quality comparisons along with speed differences between the two units.

It also shows a bit of the process of upgrading from one to the other.

I'd obviously rather you watched the video but the long and the short of it is this:

It is an upgrade, and if you have been on the fence about buying one this makes the functionality even better, it has more customisation options in the system menus for things like audio of media, microphone and call and settings to adjust for a reverse camera to make the overlays more accurate.

Directly compared to the previous P2000 model it is quicker to reboot from a hard reset and connect to CarPlay, and feels a bit more fluid and responsive when it comes to scrolling the iDrive wheel and the refresh rate of the display. This makes it feel like a nicer unit to use day to day.

The crucial one everyone was wondering about was audio call quality. They have made changes here, and it is different. In real world testing it does seem a little easier for someone on the other end to hear you, but the echo is there and dialling it out with the new manual delay option is a more user intensive process but it may mean better results.

In the comparisons I hope you can hear what I mean, surprisingly I decided to test the factory iDrive BT microphone quality and didn't find it much better, although thinking back that was still with the Mr12Volt unit connected which could have been influencing the test perhaps.

Like any product that could be updated via software things could improve making the gap between the two even bigger for the P3000. It is very unlikely we'll see anymore software updates for the P2000. As it stands right now on the launch software I wouldn't say P2000 owners would feel their moneys worth of improvement, but I hope Mr12Volt continue to release updates that make it even better.

You can buy either the CCC or CIC unit from ourselves here - https://www.evolveautomotive.co.uk/collections/bmw-m3-e90-e92-e93?filter.p.vendor=Mr12Volt

Sorry i’m not very good with coding and wiring related stuff. This fix seems to be to enable siri function on the steering wheel. My e90 doesn’t come with voice assist so siri works for me. Only thing that’s not working is pickup call and switch tracks

My car doesn’t come with bluetooth but I will try and check if hanging up works. Maybe that is the function of the call button on steering wheel.

I've decided to join the fray. Ordered the P3000, rearview camera, and wireless charging tray. Been brushing up on the various tutorials out there. Hoping this goes well and modernizes the car.

Which rearview camera did you go with?

I know GreenYi makes an AHD 720P and 1080P version. Talking with GORDON.M3's user avatarGORDON.M3 it seems the P3000 takes 1080P, but in the past, others have mentioned 1080P not working?

I recall someone else reporting this issue on the Mr12Volt Facebook group. If I remember right, that person had purchased the 1080P AHD camera, while the Mr12Volt only supports up to 720P AHD. If that is what you have, there are two options:

a) Replace the camera with 720P AHD version

b) Cut the white wire on your 1080P camera. That should downgrade the signal from 1080p AHD to 720P CVBS. The CVBS signal should work fine with the Mr12Volt, but the picture quality will not be as good as the dedicated 720P AHD camera.

If you do have the right 720P camera and it is doing this, I would try troubleshooting by hooking up the ground to a proper grounding point on the chassis and seeing if that fixes the picture.

I did not get the GreenYi, but instead bought a 1080P camera branded Fraylis. Looks to be an exact twin of the GreenYi. Guess I'll find out.

In the past it is correct that the P2000 only supplied enough power to support 720p Cameras. Now with the P3000 its updated to support 1080P AHD as stated on their site - "• Supports aftermarket cameras up to AHD 1080P".

I've personally got a P3000 and a 1080P camera on hand but I haven't had time to actually install it yet. I'm going to be doing my own further testing shortly this week, finally getting a break from all that cold weather we had on the East Coast. :sigh:

The cameras all look the same, they all use the same shell virtually. However in my experience, different brands have different sensors and different quality lenses. GreenYi in our experience has been the most stable and reliable. I've had mine for about 4 years now, still working like it should.

Nice video Matt, love the comparisons, very informative

Well I've got a customer coming to me this coming weekend so I'll get the chance to install one of the new boxes from fresh, I'm still curious about the "no coding" claim, so we'll see what happens, at least with it connecting via the controller again I can code it afterwards without taking it out if need be.

In theory we could test it by coding our own car back but like you we'll verify for ourselves when our next customer install comes in. I'd also be intrigued to check the coding afterwards, is it carrying out the coding itself or using another method.

Whats the point of powering and running a 1080p camera though?
The screen is less than 720P.
