Option 6NR requirements - what a mess

Hopefully not too much of a threadjack, but are there any other options being added/changed in the ordering guide?

I hope this helps. I have too many customers with ordered vehicles (and delivered) waiting to hear an update, so I got word from BMW.

Note to self... never underestimate BMW willingness to raise prices.

As always, you're on top of it!

Option 6NR is a no charge option!!! ($250 was bad intel from BMW NA). You must have the following options as previously confirmed:

609 Navigation System
639 BMW Assist
6FL iPod and USB Adapter

The order system is now allowing me to add this option. I will email everyone with March production and beyond to confirm you want to add the option.

Since 6NR now includes 6NF according to the announcement, does that mean the 6NF hardware is now included free? If not, seems one still needs to have the SP integration to use the "free" 6NR.

My build has 609 (ZCV), 639 (ZP2), 6FL (ZCV) and 6NF. Do I still need need 6NF or is it separate? It seems like (609 + 639 + 6FL = 6NR) based on your last statement.

Two of the three highlighted features of 6NR feature set listed in the announcement require a "snap in adapter". That means 6NF. I would be surprised to find it is now included free, but certainly happy as it required another few hundred for the appropriate cradle to be useful anyway. Does adding 6NR to an existing order subsequently now remove the 6NF option and the charge?

not sure if it's warranted or not, but having it be free provided you have the prerequisite options gives me hope it will be a straight-forward software update available to us 2011.5ers already in production.

Im hoping my car already magically has the software on my car, haha. I ordered 6NF so we shall see!

My car went into production this week. I was able to add 6NF at the last minute to 609, 6FL and 639. Based upon all of the documentation and information I have been able to find, it appears all I will need is a software upgrade and a new snap-in to gain 6NR functionality.

It would be interesting to see if anyone receiving a car recently has tried connecting with the iPhone app and what they discovered.

I guess we will all know soon enough.

David - any more information on price and new role of 6NF? There are also apparently BMWNA customer service reps saying that a retrofit will be available, so the confusion is still alive.

It is one BMWNA rep and it took him about a week of research to get back to me...

Thanks. There were others also, some saying yes, some no, most saying they know nothing.

Looks like smartphone integration has been removed from the M3 ordering page ?

I see that... and the "Apple iPhone Music Snap In Adapters" are now $221, which I think is a bit more than before?

I checked the BMW Configurator on their web site and I don't see and place to order 6NR or 6NF. Is this something you have to specifically tell your dealer when you're making an order?

If that's the case, I'm a little worried... what other potentially cool options am I missing that's not showing up in the configurator???

It wont show on the BMWUSA website until March and perhaps a week earlier.

The change is slated for MY 3/2011 vehicles and forward.
