It wont show on the BMWUSA website until March and perhaps a week earlier.

The change is slated for MY 3/2011 vehicles and forward.
Awesome, thanks for the info!
Hi All

I have been reading your comments and found that I needed to order 6NR, 6FL and 6NF as well as the phone cradle at 73GBP.

I have attached my options/order form, if anyone can tell me what I am missing that would be great

This is my dream car, as it is for many, so I really want to make sure I have ordered a good spec. I am not keen on the Comp Pkg but would appriciate your feedback.

Cheers.
Appears the dealer bulletin late last week had a mention of 6NR with some ordering info as well as a small note at the end about a retrofit. That section is attached below from a poster on another board (link provided):

Well then, I'm glad I was able to get them to add it for my end of March ED!
Without any retrofit capabilities it looks like the moniker of 2011.75 is gonna stick.
If the Combox has been retrofitted to the E60 as far back as 2004, a model that never offered the Combox from factory, then the 6NR will be retrofitted to any Combox -it is just a matter of when the baseplate will be available.

Don't worry.
Technic you seem so confident. How can one obtain this new software if they aren't in the BMW network?

Contact -= 2007 E92 COMBOX Retrofit Successful =-

I just got my 2009 CIC software upgraded to MY2011.5, and my M3 is MY2008.
I just read in a forum, that all the craddles for iPhone4 (basic - music - media) will become to warm.

Therefore is the introduction of the media craddle delated till june.

All the craddles who were sold, should be given back to the producer (Peiker)

Is there anyone who knows more?

I couldn't find any of that on the BMWUSA web site. I saw the iPhone Music Snap in addapter for $221 on the 6 series.
The latest BMW bulletin with more 6NR info - most complete data yet.

A lot of us have stuck up service reps and mechanics that would refused to do anything unless there is a service bulletin and even in some cases won't even do that.

So while you have some inside track, the rest of us don't.

Based on the documentation, it is spelled out that this is not something that can be upgraded eluding that it could be more than software.

Having seen similar commentary from BMW on retrofitting Navigation and the USB iPod offering in the E60, it will eventually come. Both were initially were "not able to be retrofitted" and yet both eventually were. I don't have any special inside information from BMW, just experience with previous technology upgrades. Though I have to say, even if it ultimately does prove to be something we can't upgrade to, I won't lose any sleep over not being able to Tweet from my car!

Like Neo was told, there is no spoon...

When BMW states that something cannot be retrofitted 99% of the time that means that there will be no official retrofit offered by BMW. Therefore no dealer will be capable to even think about doing an experiment.

For example, the Combox software is being installed in all MY2009-on 1- and 3-Series right now by the dealer when the iDrive is updated.

What that means? It means that the Combox can be retrofitted all the way back to MY2009 iDrive although BMW stated "no can't do". And it is being retrofitted by aftermarket vendors. This is not a secret or private information. Just go to the Classified forum, click the link, send PM and pay. Done.

Once you have the Combox installed then 6FL, 6NF and soon 6NR, are a matter of connecting the proper cable/baseplate and custom coding. How you do the custom coding? There is a full 80+ page thread in E90Post that explains how to do it, what you need to do it and where to get it.

It is even easier if your 09/10-02/11 car already have the OEM Combox and even much better if 6NF, so once the software is updated after 03/11 -either by the dealer as a normal update of the whole car or by an aftermarket vendor by sending that Combox to them to be updated- then it will be a matter of installing/replacing the baseplate with the 6NR, and coding the Combox to enable 6NR.

Now, just do not expect any dealer to do this for you. And if you are the type of customer that do not like anybody else to work in your car electronics but the dealer then that's the end of this. You need to buy a new car to enjoy 6NR.

No secret, no inside track. Just read this forum.
I ordered a "media-snapin" in december 2010.

Today i received from BMW Holland the message: Sorry the snap-in wil not be there before june or july.
Please use the the iPhonecable till that time.

I wrote a few days ago in this forum, that i heard that there were troubles with te temperature, when the iPone 4 was mounted in the craddle.

I informed yesterday "Peiker" (the manufacturer of the snapin)
They are not allowed from BMW to say anything.

Does anyone knows something more?

I guess one other thing, I'm on the BMWUSA site and I don't see a smart phone option for the 335is? I see a snap-in adapter as a dealer option.

I ordered Nav and iPod/USB. I sent an email to my CA on Monday about ordering 6NR and they replied on Thursday and my car went to 150 status already.

So my only thing is why isn't there something on the site to order SmartPhone Integration for the 335is? Would I get it automatically with Premium Package/Nav/and iPod-USB and just need to buy the Snap-in for my iPhone or is there more to it than that? Strange that its not a 335is option listed.

Smartphone Integration (6NF) is now "BMW Apps" (6NR) and 6NF goes away as a separate option. Basically that $150 hardware with a $100 addition the apps functionality. The BMWUSA web site is not updated and still in transition with the new option coming online next week. The new 650i builder shows more correct and up to date info, which is the same as all the other cars will be.
The site doesn't list 6NF for the 335is, only snap-in adapter. I built my car several weeks ago and it wasn't present then either when I did the print-out to give the dealer.

Don't recall seeing it in January with my original build either. Sounds like someone "f'd" up on the site for the 335is.
