Congrats and welcome to the club! Nice choice on the 6MT. As for the the 1200 mile break in its nothing over 105 mph and 5500 rpm but I'm sure you've already read that. 1200 mile service includes oil change, transmission fluid change, and differential fluid. You can do a search for the exact part numbers for the oil so you can easily see whether or not your dealer did it.

Thanks for all your well-wishes. As luck would have it, I am currently stranded on the side of the road with a blown front tire. Yup, that's right -- day 1. Took the wife for a spin after dinner to show her our new car and after hitting what seemed like a minor bump in the road all the warnings went off. The car came with Michelin tires, which don't appear to be run flats (makes sense given competition package). Can't believe the car doesn't have at least a donut to drive the 15 miles to my house. Tow truck one hour out. Hope you are having a better evening!!

What I did was take the invoice number of all the oils that needed to be changed and when I got the service invoice I made sure they all matched up. To my knowledge theres no other way to know the dealer changed the oil/s unless you can physically check the oil/s yourself.

I just read your other thread about the tire. That sucks man. When I got my 335i, I went to visit a friend in Vermont, drove on some dirt road, and punctured one of the rear tires. Being a 335i, not a M, it had the run flats so I could get home (it was a slow leak). Just sucked having to drop $400 right after I just spent all my money on the down payment.

Congrats. Mike Miller, the incredible technical writer for Roundel (the BMW CCA Magazine) and Bimmer, and a real gearhead, has developed and published his "Old School BMW Maintenance Schedule". I would recommend following it religiously. His basic premise is that, once BMW switched to free maintenance, they extended maintenance intervals. And he recommends resetting many of these back to what they should be.

He will send it to you for free if you ask. His email address is in either of these two magazines.

John, I am in Stamford as well. Tire got punctured in Bedford, NY...one of the wealthiest zip codes in the world but not enough funds to keep the roads up to Western civilization standards!

M3's do not come with RFT ... unless someone added them.

Welcome! What are your observations so far, compared to the Vette?
